Most weddings includes guests of all ages and you should take that into consideration when selecting your wedding music. Here's why you should consider songsyou never heard of or songs you may even hate.

Most couples I meet with, who are under 32,  consistently reject tsongs, such as Macarena, the Chicken Dance or Y.M.C.A., calling them overplayed, tacky, and boring. I always ask them if any of their relatives will be requesting these songs. Since your  family and friends are making a trip to your wedding, it could be selfish and rude to stick to a list of Hip Hop or Techno, for example. Remember that your guests expect to be entertained. That is why you invited them. It’s not because they can't afford to buy their own dinner, but because even dinner is part of making them feel welcomed and entertained.

As long as the song doesn’t bring up bitter memories or is offensive to the general audience or a particular guest, let the D.J. play it. As a music engineer, the D.J. will build up the spirit that is conducive to those songs and will blend them in the middle of a set. In my experience, even the bride and the groom usually end up hopping around the Chicken Dance or the Cha Cha Slide.

Don't forget that people will dance to almost anything once alcohol, atmosphere, and mood kick in. Interestingly, ithese "corney" songs usually take the crowd to the next level. These songs have been designed for this purpose. You don't need to have to be a great dancer to perform the Y.M.C.A, your 50 year old auntie will identify with the song, and any children in the crowd will feel more compelled to go to the dance floor.

In every party, there is a time when silliness kicks in. That is when the “Pour Some Sugar On Me” song shows up and people do silly things. Everyone laughs and has fun. The next day, your guests will probably forget everything about the cake, but they will certainly remember this!

Affordable Wedding Entertainment Choices

Additional tips by Emily Tanner:

The best way to choose wedding entertainment is to invite a few key members of your family over to discuss your options. If possible, try to have each of the following age groups represented; a teenager, a 20-30 year old, your Mom or Dad and a grandparent. Talk to any friends who have recently been married. Try and find out what they went for and assess how successful it was.

Most wedding DJs or live bands will invite you to a set or a gig so that you can hear them. This is a very important thing to do before making a decision. It is also a good idea to speak to people who have already used them for a wedding or special event. You then have the burden of making a final decision!

Don’t forget that the evening entertainment will only last for about 4 hours – this only equates to about 40 songs so make sure they are all hits that will get everyone up on that dance-floor. It is not unheard of for couple to select each individual song that they want played; it’s your special day so don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want.

Hire the Best Wedding Band

Wedding Music that Guest Like

By Jen Carter

When Choosing affordable weddig entertainment be selective! Always check a musician's credentials before signing a contract. Ask if them to give you a sample recording from a client’s wedding. Make sure that your musician’s price coincides with a price quote given by at least two others. Have a written contract. Give an exact date and time for your musician’s services. Make sure this date and time are firm. Most musicians do not have flexible schedules.

Never sign a contract if it looks unprofessionally written. If something seems unclear, always ask to have the phrasing clarified. If you want your band/musician to dress in theme attire — make sure this is written into the contract. The band you hire should depend on the type of service
you want for your wedding. Booking agents may not be musicians, but may contract an individual or collection of artists. It’s very rare that a booking agent reveals what the wedding musician is actually getting paid.

To find self managed artists in your area, try typing the name of your area and the words “wedding musician” or “wedding band” in your search engine or check the phone book. If you have a friend or family member who can provide a recommendation — even better. Just make sure that they have used this artist/band for a similar event. Otherwise, it isn’t a very strong recommendation.
